Astronomy explores various topics including the history and development of Astronomy, our solar system and the planets within it, our Sun, stars, the Milky Way, Galaxies, and Cosmology. There are new discoveries made everyday. Students will have an opportunity to explore some these discoveries in their classes.
The courses offered are Astronomy 109: The Solar System, Astronomy 110: Stars and Galaxies, Astronomy 112: Cosmology, and Astronomy 140: Astronomy Lab. All courses satisfy general education requirements, and the Astronomy Lab course satisfies the physical science lab requirement.
Astronomy 109, 110, 112, and 140 will give students a good foundation from which they can pursue their own career in Astronomy.
For interested students, Santiago Canyon College offers a degree in Science with an emphasis in Astronomy. For information about the Science degree with an emphasis in Astronomy, please see the degree description, or contact Prof. Barembaum (barembaum_morrie@sccollege.edu) or
